RE "gets it".
Most people want a motorbike that "looks cool" to them, has a reliable engine, and a choice of engine sizes to match their comfort level. RE has nailed all those things; a huge choice of colorways compared to any other manufacturer, reliability (plus ease of maintenance), and engine size. Want color choices? RE has 'em. RE engines are now reliable and such simple mechanical devices that they are actually user serviceable. The 350cc single and 650cc twin hit the two sweet spots for street bike engine sizes. The 411cc single is perfect for it's dual sport purpose.
Most people who want to ride are not interested in being a wannabe MotoGP racer. Most people want a fun and carefree afternoon or weekend of riding, not a white knuckled, death defying, close encounter with the Grim Reaper on the knife edge of mortality. It's a segment of the market that has been woefully underserved, particularly in North America. I don't think I'm alone in believing it's something that has hindered the growth of motorcycling in NA for years.
RE has put the motorcycle industry on notice.
