Classic 350 factory service manual

1936 Views 6 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  Bweighmaster
Considering buying a 2022 Classic 350. I have seen some discussion threads saying that the factory service manual is not available from the dealer or from Royal Enfield itself. Is this true? I do all my own work on my motorcycles and always buy the factory service manual for that purpose. No factory service manual would be a deal breaker for me.

My understanding is the service manual is not available to non-authorised persons, i.e. the general public. I think RE may be worried about liability if something goes wrong if you use it. We get given snippets of information (i.e. valve check sequence) though third-party websites like this and YouTube but not the entire manual.

Most manufacturers will not hand out their service manuals for their current range of bikes, or if they do, they'll charge a considerable sum for it. They'd like you to go back to their authorised dealers for the maintenance work.
Well, that kind of goes against my experience with my last five motorcycles, four of them bought new. If there's a problem with liability why do all the other manufacturers and dealers provide them withouit restriction? I have bought them for all five of my motorcyles and they are usually $100 - $150. Yes that is expensive, but the savings from one service alone could easily pay for the manual. When I took my first bike (Kawasaki ZR7S) in for it's first valve adjustment the mechanic failed to replace the valve cover gasket, causing an oil leak. I took the bike back and demanded they correct it at no charge. Since that experience, I have done all my own work. As the old saying goes, if you want it done right, do it yourself (assuming you know what you're doing)!

Different country, different reasons given. I did ask my local dealer about a manual and he said RE were not selling any outside the dealership network. Give it five years and a Haynes manual for the latest model might appear, otherwise, a bootleg copy of the official manual might surface on a website somewhere...
